A Message to Those Who Embrace Modesty in the Era of Ignorance

Consultation Text:

“Allah blessed me with the niqāb (face veil) about a month ago. I had wanted to wear it for about two years, but fears held me back until Allah granted it to me. However, I faced more obstacles than I ever expected. Since childhood, I have suffered from rejection and loneliness and had no friends. Things started to improve slightly in university, but the niqāb stopped this. To be fair, some have become kinder to me, but they are transient, so I feel the niqāb hides me. I feel like nothing. I do not love the niqāb, but I love Allah. I do not intend to abandon it and ask Allah for steadfastness. However, sometimes the compass falters, and confusion increases, and sorrows pile up in my heart, making the worldly life loom larger... There is no power nor strength except with Allah.”

Allah al-Mustaʿān.. (Allah is the one whose help is sought.)

We always discuss the niqāb from the perspective of obligation and touch upon its psychological aspects in this era of ignorance and alienation from Allah's rituals!

The niqāb requires great striving and cultivation and gives a profound spiritual dimension to the soul!

Always keep yourself occupied with the question, "What is the ultimate purpose of creation!?"

We do not live for the purpose of marriage (it is a means), to beautify ourselves, or to impress others!

But to please Allah Almighty, follow His commands, avoid His prohibitions, and rely on Him entirely. Therefore, we must adhere to both outward and inward guidance and live our lives as slaves of Allah Almighty, seeking only His pleasure!

Friendship is a helpful but not essential thing!

The real necessity is the companionship of Allah Almighty, not that of people!

Remember, this is an era of estrangement, a very harsh time, a time of oppression and aggression against modesty and righteousness.

But in return, the companionship of Allah is the best consolation for those who remain steadfast!

Allah's bounty is precious! Whoever withholds from themselves will not attain it. Do not mind what you face. Be certain that your role models are the Mothers of the Believers. It's honorable enough that your sisters wore it in the heart of non-believing countries and faced much psychological and physical harm. Always remember that the reward is proportional to the hardship, so you must have company that helps you!

"And keep yourself patient with…" (Quran 18:28) With whom?

Those who remind you of Allah and help you remain righteous.

Not the company of people, but the Holy Qur'an!

This is the company, and it is enough!

Believe me, if you had a lot of company, you might not have attained this honor!

So thank Allah for this guidance. It doesn't matter who considers you bigger or smaller; their opinions will add nothing to you!

The essence is your status with Allah Almighty and the status of the niqāb and modesty with you.

Try to elevate yourself and develop your personality. When you do, certainty will settle within you, and your soul will be filled with richness and fertility. Your personality will grow stronger, more attractive, and respected.

Improve your relationship with Allah. Whoever improves their relationship with Allah, their relationship with people will be corrected. Whoever Allah loves, He instills love for them in people's hearts. Do not imagine that people's love is your achievement; it is only by Allah's grace!

The true meaning of the niqāb is a Muslim woman with refined manners, a tranquil soul who knows her goal and path and strives diligently in life for all that is good and beneficial for herself and her home.

It is a system of chastity, generosity, and piety and a complete portrait of the best  possible image of a woman.=

=The beautiful part of your message is your determination not to abandon the niqāb. May Allah reward you for your steadfastness on the truth and adherence to the proper hijāb (veil). This is a sign of your good character, for modesty and chastity are among the virtuous morals and the signs of a sound and pure nature.

A righteous girl is modest by her nature, but because of her confidence in her purity and righteousness, she is not troubled and continues her academic and religious journey without hesitation!

Marriage is sustenance from Allah Almighty, with a predetermined time. It neither comes early nor late. He distributes sustenance among His servants with wisdom. He is the All-Knowing, the All-Aware. There is no withholder of what He gives and no giver of what He withholds. Nothing can repel what He decrees, Glory be to Him. All good lies in being content with His decree and fate. There is certainly goodness for the believer in it, without a doubt. Allah says: “...and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you...” (Qur'an 2:216).

Reflect deeply on these clear verses to act upon them and achieve your goal: “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient” (Qur'an 2:153).

Do not be sad; you have achieved an honor that many women today have not!

Do not be sad; you followed the path of the Mothers of the Believers and the Companions!

May Allah keep you steadfast on the niqāb, and increase you in guidance, piety, and  light upon light.
